Introduction

 

The Aeroclub Dubnica nad Váhom is a voluntary association of citizens, which performing its spare - time activity in powered aeroplane, glider aeroplane and parachute area in law No. 83/1990 Col. of laws. An Aeroclub is voluntary associated in advanced organisation unit - The Slovak National Aeroclub gen. M.R.Stefanik with office in Bratislava, where the SNA gen. M.R.Stefanik upon the authority is delegated his representation in the field of various national and international institutions. The SNA is also a member of the FEDERATION AERONAUTIQUE INTERNATIONALE (FAI) with place of seat in Lausanne.

History of Aeroclub

 

·  1.2.1948 was establish the branch of Slovak National Aeroclub at boardig house in Dubnica nad Váhom.

·  The first airfield of Aeroklub Dubnica nad Váhom was a hillside nature and was located under Ostrý vrch hill between Dubnica nad Váhom and Kolačín - village, where was builded also wood hangar in March 1949.

·  7.10.1951 was established second airfield with a flat nature and was located between SKODA - Engineering factory Dubnica nad Váhom and Prejta - village with 900 x 80 m dimensions. The opening of this airfield was organised by a historical first Air Show day of Aeroklub Dubnica nad Váhom. Hovewer, this airfiled was closed due to continued building of Engineering factory in Dubnica nad Váhom in 1953.

·  1953 - 1958 Members of Aeroklub begins to commute to flying at the nearest airfield in Považská Bystrica, which was also closed in 1958.

·  4.11.1958 take placed annual foundation meeting of new Aeroklub Dubnica nad Váhom, where a members of Aeroclub was agreed with building new Airport by Slávnica village behind the river Váh.

·  1958-1963 Members of Aeroclub Dubnica nad Vahom begin to income to Airfield Zilina.

·  June 1963, The Opening cermony of new Airport of Aeroklub Dubnica nad Váhom near Slávnica - village opened by Second Air Show day of Aeroklub Dubnica nad Váhom and first Air Show day at Airport in Slávnica.

An Aeroclub aeroplane base at that time consisted from folowingaeroplanes:
Single engine aeroplanes : ZLIN Z-26, Z-126, Z-226, LET L-40, L-60, JAKOVLEV Jak-11
Gliders : VT-109, VT-125, VT-425
coiler for gliders : Hercules II

An Aeroklub Dubnica nad Váhom appertains among the best active aeroclubs of Slovak republic since start of operation at airport Slávnica, what tells a whole series of sporting air competitions and events, which was organized with great marks and high ranking of flying specialist and judges as well as lay community not only in Slovak republic but also in the world.
